In the Kerala region, Luca Beltrami from Italy and Ellen Taerwe from Belgium have set up a social enterprise they have named GoGround to support 200 small, local cocoa farmers in the Malabar Forest region. Through careful post-harvest practices, they offer consistent quality and traceability. Dry cocoa is packed in 30 kg bags to reduce pressure and injury to employees when moving and loading. Farmers in the region typically grow cocoa as well as coconut and betel trees. Their cocoa is grown organically with fruity and spicy notes.
